LiDAR Corridor Mapping for Highway
Project Overview
High-density point cloud generation for a 120km highway corridor, supporting detailed engineering design.
The Challenge
NHAI required highly accurate 3D terrain data for designing a new 4-lane highway expansion. The corridor passed through varied terrain including agricultural lands, urban areas, and forested regions, requiring comprehensive data capture.
Our Solution
We utilized drone-mounted LiDAR sensors combined with RGB cameras to capture detailed point cloud data. Multiple flight missions were conducted at optimal times to ensure consistent data quality. Post-processing involved noise filtering, classification, and feature extraction.
Key Results
Captured 500+ million points with 50 points/sqm density
Achieved vertical accuracy of ±5cm throughout the corridor
Classified terrain into 12 distinct categories
Generated cross-sections at 20m intervals
Delivered complete dataset 2 weeks ahead of schedule
